Telstra Business of the Year Award

31/08/2012
Hume has won the Telstra Regional Business of the Year Award.
“This is an incredible win for Hume” said Andrew Saxby CEO of Hume Building Society from Sydney. “We have won some wonderful banking awards over the past few years and to now be recognised for our overall business efforts is a great tribute to everyone at Hume; this really is an award for all staff.”
The Telstra Business Awards seek to showcase Australia’s best small to medium businesses.
Over the past five years, the direction set by the Board and Senior Management Team has allowed Hume to achieve incredible growth, despite the challenges faced by the Financial Services Sector. Hume has increased its assets by 75%, almost doubled the number of Hume branches and ATMs servicing the region, increased its workforce and grown its customer base by 10,000 local residents.
“Hume competes with the major banks in our local region and despite all majors having a strong presence locally, Hume continues to outperform the market.” shared Mr Saxby.
“We believe that one of the keys to our success is the fact that we continue to open branches in the local growth corridors. We see branches as critical to our growth. While undoubtedly the internet is becoming the preferred channel for transactions, people still like to come into a branch for the new and the complicated.” explained Mr Saxby.
Last night’s award ceremony was held at the Westin Hotel and Mr Saxby was joined by fellow executives, Melissa Sweetland, General Manager, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing and Wayne Nagle, General Manager Finance and Administration.
