Frequently asked questions about mobile banking

What is mobile banking?

Mobile banking, mBank is specifically designed for internet banking on mobile devices. It enables
you to access Hume’s internet banking system, iBank, via the internet using your mobile phone.
It’s a fast and convenient way to keep track of your money when you’re on the go.

What internet banking functions are available when I use my mobile
to access mBank?

You can:

  • Check account balances

  • Pay and view bills using BPAY®
  • Transfer funds to internal and external accounts
  • Setup future and recurring transactions

What’s the difference between using a mobile phone instead of
my computer to access internet banking?

Mobile phones can access the internet in the same manner as computers; however web browsers
on mobiles are generally simpler, the download speed is slower and the screens smaller. mBank
caters for this by offering simple functionality, fast access and screens designed for mobile devices.

What type of mobile can I use to access mBank?

You can access mBank with iPhone and iPod Touch (Safari web browser only)* and with most
smartphones using Windows mobile browser. The technology of mobile devices is changing rapidly
and so are different mobile browsers. Although we will continue to develop mBank, we can’t always
guarantee access for all browser versions or for phones not made for browsing the internet.

Do I need to register before I can use mBank?

If you are already registered for internet banking with Hume and have a security device that
generates a one time password, you can access mBank straight away from your mobile.

If you can’t access mBank because you are not using a one time password from a security device you
will need to enable one onto your account.

You can obtain a security token at a Hume branch or by letting us know through iBank (Go to ‘Other’,
‘Security Options’ in iBank and follow the instructions on the page). Alternatively, you can download
a mobile token that will generate a one time password to your mobile.

I am already using a security token; can I use it with mBank?

can download a mobile token that will generate a one time password to your mobile.

Can I copy the One Time Password downloaded to my mobile and paste it to
the field on the mBank login screen?

Yes, many smart phones have a copy/paste function. Please refer to your mobile phone manual
    for this function.

Is it safe to use my mobile phone for banking?

Using your mobile for internet banking is as secure as using internet banking from your computer.
