1. Open a new account

ID Requirements

For better banking with Hume

To become a customer at Hume, simply visit any one of Hume’s 19 branches. Just make sure you bring along the right ID.

Here’s what you’ll need*:
For individuals, a minimum of the below identification documents (in general):

  • An Australian driver's licence which contains your current residential address
    or
  • 1 x Primary Document and 1 x Secondary Document
Primary Documents

(Must contain your name and date of birth)

  • Passport (current or expired less than 12 months)
  • Licence or Permit issued under state or territory law (eg: Driver's Licence, Shooter's Licence)
  • National Identity Card (eg: Proof of Age Card)
  • International Travel Document
  • Birth Certificate
  • Citizenship Certificate
  • Reference from School - Under 18 years only (must contain name and date of birth)

Secondary Documents

(Must contain your name and current residential address)

  • Notice from Rating Authority less than 3 months old (eg: Land Rates Notice)
  • Utility Bill less than 3 months old (eg: Telephone, Electricity or Gas bill)
  • Notice issued by the Australian Taxation Office less than 12 months old
  • Centrelink Pension Concession Card that confirms entitlement to receipt of benefits
If you are under 18

If you are under 18 years of age and you don’t have any of the ID documents listed above,you will need to bring in one of the following:

  • A letter from your School (From the Principal, Chief Executive or Enrolment Clerk, on appropriate letterhead, stating that you attend the school, your name, your date of birth and your address)
  • Birth Certificate
  • Passport

2. We can help you switch

We can help you with a smooth transition by changing your regular payments from your old account to your new one.

To help set up your new account we will:

  • Help you get a list of all your regular direct debits and credits from your old bank
  • Switch all your automatic regular direct debit and credit arrangements for you
  • Help you with any direct debit arrangements you need to cancel
