Hume announces it will join the $20 million upgrade of Thurgoona plaza with plans to open a 15th branch. The branch completion will coincide with the opening of the centre and major tenants in the new Thurgoona Plaza that is currently under development.
Hume has an ATM situated at the existing plaza and expects the new branch will bring increased convenience and banking services to 2,800 member residents in the area. The upgrade promises to be a busy and vibrant retail hub, servicing more than 6,000 residents, with thousands more homes over the next 25 years.
Hume CEO Andrew Saxby said today the branch highlights Hume’s confidence in its business as it continues to invest during this economic time.
“Hume is excited to be a part of the project and recognises Thurgoona as a growing community, being the perfect place to extend Hume’s network,” he said “The branch will support busy branches in Lavington and Albury as well as local schools currently participating in Hume’s School banking program.”
The Thurgoona branch further consolidates Hume Building Society’s footprint in North East Victoria and Southern NSW and follows closely behind the new branch in Rutherglen and ATM in Chiltern.
“It’s more good news for Thurgoona members as they will be able to bank locally and also access their cash through any Westpac ATM across Australia free of direct charge.”
