  • Annual skin cancer checks
  • Annual flu vaccinations
  • Remedial massage in the work place
  • Weekly supply of fruit in the tea rooms

Work Life Balance

Hume adopts a work life balance approach and provides opportunities for staff such as:

  • Part time hours
  • Opportunity to purchase extra leave
  • Education Assistance / Professional Development
  • Salary packaging options, including salary sacrificing

Staff Charity

The staff charity program includes three key initiatives.

The first is a regular donation to a local charity or non-profit organisation. Funds will be raised by a gold coin donation from staff who participate in Hume's monthly casual dress day. Hume Building Society will match the amount raised and present a cheque to the nominated charity.

Hume's second initiative involves granting one extra day of paid leave to each staff member who participates in an approved organised community volunteer service, such as the Red Cross door knock appeal.

Thirdly, employees have the opportunity to donate pre-tax income to their chosen charities under the Workplace Giving Program - an initiative launched by the Australian Tax Office.

Other community volunteer services that Hume staff participate in include Meals on Wheels deliveries, daily Telecross calls, Door knock appeals and voluntary visitors to the elderly.

Social Club

Hume’s Social Club Committee plans activities throughout the year, encouraging staff to interact on a social level.

Events include:

  • Trivia Night
  • Social Evenings
  • Annual Children’s Christmas Party
  • Annual Staff Christmas Party
  • Cinema Nights
  • Raffles held periodically to celebrate occasions such as Easter, Mother’s and Father’s Day.
