Cash passport

The Cash Passport Card is a pre-paid, PIN-protected card that enables you to obtain local cash from over 690,000 Visa ATMs around the world. Cash Passport is not a debit or credit card - rather, you could think of it as a "plastic travellers cheque." You can purchase the card in any amount from $250 to $25,000.

Cash Passport is ideal for all major tourist destinations, overseas and in Australia, where there is an ATM network:

  • The same card can be used around the world - there is no need to buy cards in different currencies for different destinations. You have access to your funds 24 hours a day, and there are no daily withdrawal limits.
  • Travelex supplies a second card (with a separate PIN), free of charge - if you lose one, simply start using the second. Lost or stolen cards can be replaced, free of charge and usually within 24 hours. No value is kept on the card (all funds are retained on Visa's host system). If a card is lost or stolen, it is useless to the thief provided the PIN remains secret.
  • You normally pay only $3.75 per withdrawal (other fees may apply). Cash Passport normally provides a better rate of exchange than travellers cheques, and exchange rates are converted at the time of the transaction.
  • As Cash Passport is pre-paid, there is no danger of overspending. Unused funds can be reclaimed upon returning home (fees may apply).
  • Anyone can buy a Cash Passport card - you do not have to be over 18 or have a credit rating. It can also be bought as a gift. For added convenience, you can choose to receive a reloadable card, which you can top up with additional funds when required.
  • Customer support is available 24 hours a day through Visa to deal with lost cards, forgotten PINs, card balances etc.
